Avengers 2 Sales Contest

At the end of April 2015, I was looking at movies coming out and noticed Avengers 2: Age of Ultron was opening May 1st. I thought, "Man, it would be fun to have a contest where the prize was a trip for 2-3 people to go see Avengers 2 on the clock." Thus, the Avengers themed game was born. 

 

So, I had the fun prize, now I needed a way to movitivate. I needed other ways to keep people involved. The game, I decided, was going to be sales. We are an inbound customer service call center, but we do have a product that will save money. In addition, I wanted to see if we could renew accounts before the account actually expire. So, the game was to test these theories. 

 

The idea is to see if they have the salesmanship of Tony Stark. You could also do the empathy of Captain America, if you want to focus on quality monitoring. We also have side games to see if the can yield Thor's Hammer, the accuracy of Hawkeye and Black Widow, and the power of Captain of America's shield.

 

The Set Up

Supplies

  • Mjölnir, or Thor's Hammer

  • Nerf gun

  • Nerf bow

  • Foam Frisbee

  • Targets

  • Someone good with Photoshop

  • Color Printer

The Contest

First, break up the teams into 2-3 people. I chose this number because on a Friday afternoon, I could have 2-3 people out and not have our service levels suffer much. 

 

Prizes:

Grand Prize: The winning team gets to go see Avengers 2 on the clock, tickets are paid for as well. The winner is determined by the team with the highest average sales per hour. 

Most Points: Avengers Glasses

Most Accurate Team: Avengers Coasters

 

The Games:

The Hammer Toss

From about 12 feet away, toss a foam Thor's hammer at a Photoshopped version of me as Thanos. Hit the body and you get a point.

 

The Shooting Game

From about 15 feet away, shoot Hawkeye's bow or Black Widow's gun at a Photoshopped version of one of my two supervisors. 

 

The Shield Throw

From about 12 feet away, toss a foam frisbee at a Photoshopped version of our COO as Loki.

 

The idea is to get them off the phones for a few minutes, have fun, and sell. The nice thing about this game, is it can be tweaked for whatever you want to focus on for a 2 week period. We could also do a similar themed game for other movies coming out later this year, James Bond and Hunger Games are just 2 that come to mind.
